Wow, I have been slacking on the blog entries! We have been so busy this month! The sad part is is that we only have a few pictures to show for it, lol! I really need to get on it more. I added a few videos that happened throughout the month though.
Where to start? We’ve been using the pool as much as we can around the rain. We have playdates during the day when Dan is at work, and the last two weekends we’ve had a little get together here to swim and BBQ/order pizza. The two weekends before that, we BBQ’d at some other friends’ houses. We still do the gym most mornings and we also have been to a few friends’ houses for playdates too during the month, besides having them here when the weather is nice. We also went to the beach once with some friends when Dan had off and had a date night to celebrate our birthdays. Busy, but fun!! Made our summer fly by!
Dan has still been having issues from his surgery. He went to see a specialist a few weeks ago and they scheduled an endoscopy for mid-Sept. That was the earliest appt! We just want to get it over with and find out why he is still having so much residual pain. So, because of that appt and the follow up one, that kind of screws up our vacation plans. We were planning on going to Tampa/Orlando for a week or so and split time between Seaworld (two days), the Florida Aquarium, and the Tampa zoo. We’re still going to do a weekend or two in Tampa probably and do the zoo and aquarium, but we won’t be going to Orlando. We are, however, planning a trip up to PA around Ashlan’s 2nd birthday instead to spend time with family.
I am working on a growth chart for Ashlan, like http://adventuresindecoratinganddesign.blogspot.ca/2012/01/ruler-growth-chart.html, though ours will be different because I’m staining the wood a cherry color and the numbers will be off white. This way, if we move, we can take it with us. I love Pinterest! That’s where I got the idea from and this is one pin that I’m actually doing besides recipes, haha.
It seems Ashlan is talking so much more lately! She is really starting to talk now. The baby gibberish has definitely mostly disappeared and she is talking in sentences. She still may not say the whole word of something, but some things she does, so it just depends. We have been working with her to say please and thank you. She will say please (actually ‘pease’) when she wants something but we still have to ask her to say thank you, but she does. The other day she wanted to watch Little Einsteins. Dan and I hesitated on answering her and then she said, “pease?”. How could we refuse? LOL! Once in awhile, she’ll be rough with us and hurt us. If we say, “Oww, you hurt Mommy/Daddy”, she immediately says, “Are you ok?” Sweet girl. I was doing my hair today after the shower and she clearly said to me, “What you doing?” I’ve also heard her say to me or Caesar, “Hey, come back here”. A popular one is “I can’t reach” when she wants things on the counter, and when we leave the house for an errand or the gym, she always says, “Bye C”, and waves. Definitely not a baby anymore! I love that she now says “cheese” for pictures and when we give her medicine, she now says, “Ahh” when she opens her mouth. Surprisingly (and as of right now, haha), she doesn’t fight us when giving her medicine. She seems to understand us when we say it’s making her feel better. Finally!!!
She also started going to the bathroom where the toilet is when she goes potty (we think). She will say she pooped or peed and then runs to the toilet. I don’t think she is ready to be potty trained, but it’s something we have to start thinking about. I don’t know if I’m ready for that though, lol. Yesterday she wanted to sit on the toilet twice and we went through so many diapers because she wanted to be changed immediately after she peed/pooped. We bought a lid for the toilet especially for her little tushie, so Dan has to put that on and then we need to get a step stool and then maybe we’ll think about it. Maybe. She’s still so young yet, I don’t know if I’m ready to tackle that, or if she’s ready. We’re just slowly introducing it.
She is doing excellent on her animals and the sounds they make. She can identify most animals in books and tell you what sound they make, if they make a sound. We have a book that has shapes in the animal form (it’s pretty weird), and she can identify those animals too, which surprises me because I have to look at the printed name of it before I can get what animal it is, lol. She loves puzzles and does the ones we have a lot. She can match things together now too. We just can’t believe all that’s happened in a month’s time. She’s growing up too fast. This time last year she was crawling. Hard to believe in a week she’ll be 21 months.
She put one of her diapers on Minnie (clean of course, lol).
Some videos of Ashlan and Audrey dancing.
Bringing me my potholder and pot that we let her play with to be like mommy. :)
Fun times! The only way we can get her to wear a tutu is apparently when her friend, Cray, will wear one too. LOL! I think Ashlan has a crush. They left when she was asleep and the next morning she ran around the house screaming Cray's name right after she woke up, haha!
The growth ruler.
The growth ruler and a shadow box I'm making for some of her memory items.
Yesterday she had a 103 fever...about the only time we can get her to stop moving. :)
She actually said 'cheese'. So cute. :)
