Final appointment

Well, this will definitely be the last blog entry until the baby is here because I refuse to post anymore until that happens! So as you can assume, baby girl did not make her appearance while Dan’s family was here, unfortunately. I still can’t believe I haven’t had any contractions or anything like that. I’ve tried everything to speed labor along, eating pineapple, spicy foods, pizza, walking, etc. I haven’t tried castor oil but will definitely not try that!

My appointment on Monday, November 29th showed that I have made a little progress but more is definitely needed! They also strapped me up to a machine to do a Non Stress Test on the baby and everything looked fine there. The doctor also estimated her to be about 7 to 7 ½ lbs, so I was happy to hear that, even though that estimation could be wrong. After a discussion with the doctor, they scheduled me for an induction on Friday, Dec 3rd unless I go into labor before then. I will be 40 weeks 6 days on Friday. I actually report to the hospital on Thursday, December 2nd, at 5pm for them to administer cervidil. Then I would stay overnight and be induced the next morning after I showered and such. I wish she would come on her own but at least there is an end date in sight!

Here are two pictures at 40 weeks 1 day.

The week of Thanksgiving

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone!  We were lucky to have Dan’s side of the family down to enjoy dinner with us!  Here are a few pictures of us on Thanksgiving.  (Please ignore my fat face, this just happened about a week ago!  UGH!  I think I am majorly retaining water now.)  I'm 39 weeks, 5 days here on Thanksgiving.

Anyway, apparently, me cooking Thanksgiving did nothing to get our little girl moving, though I had my doubts anyway since I have been cooking all along.  My due date is tomorrow (Nov. 27) and it looks as if I will not be having her before then.  Seems like none of the old wives tales are working, so she must not be ready to come out!  We went to my doctor appointment on Wednesday and as I expected, my doctor said I have made no progress.  I know that can change quickly, but as I said before, I am thinking I will eventually have to be induced.  I hope she comes on her own but if she doesn’t, the induction date will probably be Friday, December 3rd, where I will be 40 weeks 6 days...the last day they let me go before inducing anyway.  We’ll see what happens!  My next appointment is Monday, November 29th, so we'd find out the exact induction time then if I make it that far.  Either way, it won't be long now...there is an end date in sight!

38 weeks today!!

I am 38 weeks exactly today!  These pics were taken today, and man, I look huge!  I'm starting to get concerned with how big of a baby she may be, especially since I've now topped 40 lbs!  LOL!  I wonder if this will be the last blog entry before baby girl makes her appearance?  :)

On Tuesday, November 9th, we had our 37 week appointment and everything was normal with my blood pressure, her heart rate, etc. I did fail the GBS test but that’s not such a big deal since I’ll get the antibiotics via IV when I’m admitted to the hospital. My next appointment is Tuesday, November 16th. Also on the 9th, we attended the Baptism class at our church that evening, so we are prepared in that department as well. We are hoping to get her baptized when my parents are here over Christmas vacation, but we’re not sure if Dan can get off of work the Saturday after Christmas. We’ll see how it works out but it would sure be nice to have some family down here for that!

I have been feeling great, with the exception of a few minor BH contractions that started this past Tuesday but have since stopped. If I haven’t gone into labor by Thanksgiving, I plan on cooking the meal like I normally do if I still feel this good! (Besides, maybe it will bring on labor!) My doctor is actually the on-call doctor for Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend, so I am kinda hoping if I don’t go by Thanksgiving, that I will go on that weekend. Dan’s parents will be here the week of Thanksgiving, so that’s the main reason I’d like to go into labor by then, so they can meet her. However, she’s in charge so we’ll see!  :)

Appointments update and pics

On Monday, November 1, I had my 36 week appointment. We went over my birthplan with my doctor and did the GBS test. We’ll get the results at our next appointment. My finger was also pricked for anemia again (third and last time), which I passed again so everything looks good there. From now on, I’m on to weekly appointments and my next appointment is on Tuesday, November 9th.

We met with our pediatrician on Tuesday, the 2nd, and we really like her. She’s actually affiliated with Baptist Downtown (well, the whole office is), where I am delivering at. This means a doctor from their office does rounds every day at the hospital, so our baby will be seen at least two times by our pediatrician before she is discharged. Another thing we liked about that office is that there are five total pediatricians there and they are open every weekend also for appointments (Saturday and Sunday)! Plus, there is always someone on call at night for emergencies.

Also on Tuesday, we went to our appointment to get the car seat installation checked in our new vehicle. Since I went by myself with the other car, I was happy Dan could go with me this time so he could see how to install the seat correctly.

It’s still really hard to believe that there is only a month or so left! I know my due date is two days after Thanksgiving but I have this feeling she is going to be late, probably because I’ve had no problems or even BH contractions yet, or if I did, they were very mild. It would be nice if she came a week early so Dan’s family could meet her when they’re here for Thanksgiving but I guess she’ll come when she’s ready.  :)

The first picture was taken on Nov 1- 36 weeks, 2 days. The second picture I wasn’t going to post but Dan said I should because it showed just how big my stomach has gotten without hiding behind my shirt. It was taken a little over a week ago on October 26- 35 weeks, 3 days. Oddly enough, I don’t feel that big until I see myself in a picture!!
