We had Ashlan’s 12 week/3 month pictures taken on Friday and they turned out perfectly! She did so much better even though she had a slight meltdown right before we left. We were actually thinking of canceling but then she had a 20 minute nap in the car and was good to go when we got there. They turned out so much better than her 6 week ones! The photos are available online again, as I’m sure her grandparents are interested in seeing them. Reminder: Go to www.searsphotos.com, and then on the right hand side under “View Portraits” type in the session #115207 and password: 3C23Z and then click the “View portraits” box. You can also order from this website if you want more than the ones that we will be bringing up in April when we visit.

Happy 12 weeks Ashlan!
Ashlan is 12 weeks today! She is still sleeping around 7 hours at night so we are thrilled with that! And she has pretty much put herself on a schedule with naps too. One thing I don’t like though is that she is still sleeping in her carrier. It seemed her heartburn medication wasn’t doing much because she was never able to lay on her back for longer than a few minutes. We just recently stopped her on Zantac and started her on Prevacid so we’re hoping that does the trick. Prevacid is so much harder to administer than Zantac though. We have to dissolve a pill into 4 ml’s of water and then give it to her in a syringe. Zantac was just a liquid and we gave it to her in 0.5 ml’s so there is a big difference in liquid there…especially for a baby! She took the Zantac with no problem because the syringe was so small but we can’t do that with the Prevacid because it is such a big syringe. We can’t dissolve it in a bottle either because the little granules won’t go through the bottle nipple. So we’ve just been giving it to her in the syringe but it is hit or miss on whether or not she just spits it back out! It is at least strawberry flavored so I’m sure that helps.
Dan’s mom arrived on Tuesday so she has been spending lots of quality time with Ashlan. Today we have Ashlan’s three month pictures scheduled so she’ll get to see Ashlan be a supermodel, haha. This weekend is when Dan’s dad and sister will arrive so I’m sure they are anxious to meet Ashlan as well.
We are getting very close to be able to put Ashlan in cloth diapers full time! I actually picked a day last week and had her in cloth diapers all day. She only leaked once, however, she got a slight diaper rash towards the end of the day so I am researching what to use on her that is safe for cloth diapers (and effective against diaper rash & prevention). I have a few good ideas from friends who also cloth diaper.
So my weight is definitely starting to come off now, which I am so thankful for because I’m trying really hard! I only have about 10 lbs to go now. I fit into most of my prepregnancy pants though they are still a tad tight. Ashlan and I have been making good use of the jogging stroller and I try to take Caesar on a mile walk every day. I’m glad Ashlan’s birthday was when it was because bathing suit season is right around the corner and hopefully I’ll be ready!
Ashlan's in 6-12 mos socks...is that normal for this age? I hope her feet aren't too big or else she may hate them!
Check out Caesar in the background of these two pictures, HAHA! He's pouting in this pic below!
HAHA, I think this picture below is so funny!
Another funny face pic!
Happy girl!
She has a cloth diaper on here...doesn't look too bulky anymore!
Here are some pics of her in cloth diapers with her babylegs on. She is wearing 3-9 mos onesies already! They actually look tighter than I thought they would have looked on her, even when she’s in sposies, which take up less room than cloth.
Grammy and Ashlan
Another pic with Grammy...check out Caesar using the boppy pillow, haha! Always has to be in the pic!

10 week pics
Ashlan and I have been enjoying the 60 degree weather in the mornings! Every day that Dan works, we take the jogging stroller out for a jog. These last 15 lbs are proving harder than I thought to get off. They are coming off very slowly but I guess at least they are coming off. I’m not cutting back on food intake though because I’m still breastfeeding but if I had been working out like this pre-pregnancy, I’d have already dropped the weight so I’m not sure why it’s taking so long this time. I’m usually able to run 4-5 times a week at 3 miles each time. I’m only able to run 10 minute miles right now but hope to get back to my 8-9 minute miles eventually and also up to 4-5 miles again. She is an angel on the jogs too! She will be up for about 10 minutes into the jog and then she falls asleep. She usually gets a 20 minute nap in before I am done but she will always wake up between the transfer from the stroller into the house, unfortunately. However, she still manages to get a few good naps in during the day, which leads to her sleeping better at night.
Since I’m a little OCD (haha), I have been keeping track of all her feedings, naps, poops, pees, and how long she sleeps at night. This is not only to see if there is a pattern (which there is) but also to make sure she is getting enough nap time during the day. We have found that her getting enough naps is directly related to how well she sleeps at night. We have been lucky that Ashlan usually goes down around 10 to 10:30pm and usually doesn’t wake up until 5 or 6 am. We originally tried to get her to go down around 8:30 to 9pm but we found that not only did she not sleep as long but she also was a lot more fussy when she slept and often had a hard time staying asleep without us intervening. So, though it might be a little late, it is what works for us. Once in a while she will need a feeding, or a binky in the middle of the night, but then she goes right back to sleep. And ironically, she has been spitting the binky out lately after only a few minutes and falling asleep without it again, so that is great that I don’t have to keep getting up to put it back in her mouth! We still put her down drowsy (or sometimes fully awake) and she almost always can get herself to sleep, so we are very happy about that too, that we don’t have to rock her or sing to her, etc. (Not that we don’t enjoy rocking or singing to her, but it is nice to know that she can fall asleep without that!) We know sleeping can change so we hope she keeps this schedule and is always this easy to get to sleep!
We also have been taking advantage of the 70 degree days by taking Caesar on a long walk in the afternoons too, which Caesar loves. We took him to the vet last week for his six month checkup (he gets checkups twice a year because of his epilepsy) and he actually lost about a pound! That’s a lot considering he only weighed about 8 ½ lbs before. It’s not because he won’t eat…it’s just because I guess I was feeding him too many green peppers and green beans and not enough dry food! So the vet just told us to up his dry food a little. I also think that going on these walks with Ashlan almost every day has helped him in the weight department.
Dan's family is coming down in a week so we are very excited for them to meet Ashlan! Hopefully the weather will also cooperate since it's been in the 70's all week.
Onto the pictures...
She always sleeps with her hand on your chest.
I think she looks just like Dan here! She may have my chin but she has all his other features as of right now.
She definitely has my lip flexibilities!
We got a bumbo seat the other day from Babies’R’Us and I get such a big kick out of her sitting in it since she looks like a little person in it instead of a baby! Here are some pics below of her in it.
Just hanging out with daddy outside on a gorgeous day.
She looks confused! Haha.
Before going on a walk with Caesar and daddy.
Daddy loves to give her mohawk hair. Love her expression here! (By the way, the 0-3 onesie that she has on is way too small for her...her big tummy stretches it to the max! Guess we're going to have to get her a bigger size, especially since there is no way the cloth diapers would fit under them!)
This is how I see her about 90% of the time! About 7% is fussing and the other 3% is crying. She is such a happy baby for the most part!
Big blue eyes!
She is always looking around and at anything you put in front of her.

Videos for the grandparents
Here's Caesar singing and Ashlan cooing again...
I do have a cute one of her cooing again but I filmed it the wrong way so it would be sideways to watch. I am going to try to fix it and then post.
9-10 week pictures
The professional pictures that we had taken at Sears are also available online if her grandparents are interested. :) Go to www.searsphotos.com, and then on the right hand side under “View Portraits” type in the session #115099 and password: VZCRP and then click the “View portraits” box. You can also order from this website if you want more than the ones we sent you (which you should be getting by Monday). We weren’t very happy with these pictures primarily because we couldn’t get her to smile for many of them but at least we have a few from when she was six weeks old.
Well, we had our first date night last night in honor of Valentine’s Day (since Dan works on Monday) and I was so nervous to leave both Ashlan and Caesar because I didn’t know if they’d behave themselves. I think I was more worried about Caesar barking the entire time than I was about Ashlan crying! Well, it was reported to us that they both did fine. We were only gone for a little over two hours, just to have dinner. Dan and I tried to not talk only about Ashlan and we actually did a pretty good job talking about other things, which I was a little surprised! So since they both did so well, it looks like there will be more date nights in our future!

Caesar always has to check on her in the mornings.
It's not all happy times!
Two seconds after I snapped this picture she threw up all over herself and then me! So, she wasn't even in these clothes for the superbowl since I had to change her!
Check out that dimple!
Not sure if she's liking the Wubbanub! She looks confused. Haha!
I think I startled her with the flash again. Funny face!
There's a smile!
Ashlan's very advanced...she can already read. HAHA!
Strong girl for 9 weeks old!
