Pool fun!

On Monday we had a playdate at our community pool with a 10 month old and a 3 month old and we had a really good time! Ashlan got along well with the 10 month old, which was another girl. It was fun to see both of them interact with each other and they both loved the water. Ashlan tried the float that they had brought and she absolutely loved it! And I mean LOVED it! It was so funny to see her just relaxing in it, leaning back with a toy in her mouth. They told me where they got it from and it’s pretty clear we had to go buy one. Then we put her in it when we went to the pool today and she was not happy, figures! Her nap was pretty bad which is why we thought she might be cranky but she was happy just jumping up and down in the water. Hopefully, she’ll use the raft next time!

She is using her knees a lot more now when crawling. She still does the army crawl the most but is definitely using the regular crawl too. She just happens to go after Caesar faster with the army crawl! But her knees are sometimes red after she does it a lot so when I remember, I put babylegs on her to help with that.

This Saturday we are planning on going to the Zoo with some friends of ours who have a baby around Ashlan’s age. We are looking forward to seeing Ashlan’s reactions to the animals and I think we may also be buying season passes so we can go whenever we want. Since Dan has weird hours at work, we figured we’d go on weekdays when the kids go back to school so it will be less crowded and less hot!

So naps are still not going well. The majority are lasting only 20 min now and once in a while, we get an hour one thrown in there. Nights are still going well though, and I guess we’d rather have the good sleep at night but these naps are starting to get exhausting. She’s not very cranky though (only when she needs to eat) so I guess she must not need naps as much…but her eyes still look a little red and she rubs her eyes like she's tired.  There is no sign of teeth and she's not even drooling much anymore, so I don't think that is the problem...not to mention this has been going on for nearly three weeks now.  She just doesn’t want to miss anything, I guess!

Caesar was outside!

You can see his nose by the window!  LOL!

This is what happens when I turned my back for a minute...she ended up under the table.

She's on the move towards me.

Daddy built her a castle.

Getting ready to head into the pool (with only a 20 min nap that day).

Don't know if you can see but she's not a happy camper underneath her hat!

Videos for the grandparents

Bathtime fun!!

Ashlan's new toys, lol!

Watermelon face

Update #2560498 :) Seriously, I don't know what #, I didn't take the time to count

Our 9th anniversary was this past Wednesday. It’s hard to believe that time has gone by so fast! This past year seems to have gone by the fastest but it has been full of smiles and laughter of a little one! We went out to dinner and when we got back, we made some white wine once Ashlan went to bed.

Ashlan is getting great at sleeping through the night so our sleep training must be doing some good! She goes down anywhere between 6 and 7 and sleeps straight through until 5:30. Can’t get her to sleep past that time though! We’ve never been able to have her sleep in! However, we’re not complaining, that’s pretty good with no wakeups and no feedings even! She has been like this for the past week since we started the sleep training. We are trying nap training now but it’s slower going. Everything was going good with naps in the crib up until two weeks ago. Now, she fights going down for naps so hard! She just wants to stay up and play all day! We actually let her one day to see what would happen and she took 2 naps with a total of 50 min of sleep! Not nearly enough for a baby her age, so we started the nap training and since it's recommended to do sleep training first before naps, we did and are pleased with the results of that.  With the success we had at sleep training at night, we’re hopeful that we can get her on two regular naps as well, at least for the next few months.

She is also starting to dance when music is played on any of her little toys. It’s so cute to see her bounce up and down to the music. If we can, we’ll try to get a recording of it and upload it, as I know her grandparents would probably like to see it.

She also loves to bounce on our laps to the tune of “Hi Ho Silver” like she is riding a horse. Once I stop bouncing her, she bounces up and down herself as if to make me keep doing it. It’s really cute. We’ll try to get that one recorded as well but we’ll see. We tried to one morning this week and she was just burying her head into me so she must have been too tired to “perform” for all of us!

She’s been consistently maneuvering from being on her back to sitting and also from a sitting to crawling position. Still mainly doing the army crawl but she is fast! She gets up on all fours and will crawl like that occasionally or rock, but she still mainly does the army crawl. Caesar is not pleased. Lately we’ve been finding her sitting up in her crib…I guess it’s time to move the crib down a notch since she is also starting to pull up and crawl all over us. It’s just a matter of time before the crib is used to stand.

Being silly with her Puffs

Going after the DVD's.

Mmmm, tasty feet!

Thinking about pulling up.

Trying to pull up.

"Oh yeah, I'm up!  Now how do I get down?"

She will be very smart...that is a calculator.

Oh yes, very smart, lol!  ;)

Practicing her waving...she does it like the Queen.  :)

Bath time and daddy made her hair like a mohawk but it's too long!

Trying watermelon for the first time.

Lol, not sure if she likes it here!  She eventually ate a bunch more though so I think she does.

Going after those darn DVD's again...

Bouncing up and down on mommy to "Hi Ho Silver".

A new toy, haha!

More pics of the princess (photo bomb)

Standing basically on her own.

Oh, look at that belly!  (I know it's extremely hot here...the babylegs are to help reduce the red marks on her legs from crawling.)

Ready to charge after Caesar!

Feeding herself Puffs.

This is her chewing face!  She frequently makes this when taking a bite of Puffs.

She loves her Puffs!

And she loves Caesar, poor thing!

Is it wrong that we use her binky to make her crawl across the room, lol!

Going after Caesar, watch out!

She actually grabbed his leg a few times to which he kept looking at her and moving to his right, lol!

On her way!

Opps, she fell down just before getting to Caesar.  I'm sure he was happy!

She's been quite the wiggle worm on the changing table for about a month now.  If we give her two binkies (two- one for her mouth and one to play with) or a book, she is good to go.  Took us a month to figure that out, haha!

She loves to jump on daddy's legs!

Watching Caesar through the window...he hurried by her when I opened the door!

Practicing standing by herself again.

Reaching for bink.

She got bink...now looking for something else to get into!

I gave her a small bowl of Puffs while feeding Caesar.

She ate them all in no time!
