Dan's diagnosis and Ashlan's 15 month stats

Quick update so no pics.  We got the results to Dan’s biopsy the other day and it was splenosis, which is a great thing because the mass wasn’t cancerous!  In order to explain it better, the definition of splenosis is a rare condition in which fragments of tissue from a ruptured spleen become implanted throughout the peritoneal cavity and often undergo regeneration and vascularization (got that definition from the internet, haha).  Basically, part of Dan’s spleen broke off sometime in his life, most likely from a contact sports injury, and lodged itself in his small intestine, where it continued to grow until it was completely blocking his intestine.  It is very rare and probably will never happen again (and no more contact sports for him, lol!).  The good news is he got his NG tube out yesterday and was able to start clear liquids today, so he’s been having apple juice, chicken broth, beef broth, and jello with no nausea, so that is wonderful.  He also was able to take a shower today, so he was happy about that…the sponge baths are just not the same.  ;)  Hopefully, he’ll be able to come home on Sunday, but we’ll see.  Either way, we’ve been so fortunate that my parents and Dan’s dad have been here…they have made our life so much easier while he was in the hospital!!

And I forgot to post Ashlan’s stats from her 15 month appointment.  Healthy girl!  ;)
Weight:  27.1 lbs. (95th percentile)
Height:  32.5 in. (95th percentile)
Head:  18.5 in. (50th percentile)
