Our 10th anniversary was a week and a half ago and
we got a babysitter so Dan and I could celebrate together at Ruth’s Chris. We have an amazing sitter, and Ashlan and
Caesar absolutely love her. It was
actually the first time I have ever not put her down or been there for bedtime,
but we had nothing to worry about because our sitter reported to us that she
did extremely well. We had a great time
and the food was delicious! I definitely
see many more date nights in our future now that we’ve found someone as great as her.
We have been enjoying Dan’s family down here for the
past week. We have spent time in the
pool, at the beach, the zoo, and even made it out to a restaurant on the
beach. Ashlan has been a ham the whole
time they’ve been here. She has
definitely kept us laughing.
She’s actually getting much better at identifying
animal sounds now. She has been doing
cows go moo and dogs go ruff ruff for awhile, and now she can tell us turkeys
go gobble, kitties go meow, lions go rawr, monkeys go ‘oo-oo-oo-ee-ee’ (haha, well that one doesn’t come out so well all the time, sounds more like oo-oo-oo), sheep
go baaaaaa, pigs go oink, ducks go quack quack, roosters go cock-a-doodle-do
(though that one comes out a little shorter than that). I can’t believe how much she’s picked up over
these last few weeks regarding animals.
She can also identify them all in a book when we ask her what something
is. She’s also been putting matching puzzles
together for a few weeks now as well.
She can put all the shapes into her little shape puzzle and she can
match animal to animal. Dan’s family
brought down some other ones and she is starting to figure those out as well,
only they are harder because they don’t have the image underneath. They just have half of
the animal and you have to match the backside, but she's picking that up fast as well. She is also starting to count little by little for us. We’ll say one, she’ll say two, we’ll say one,
two, three, she’ll say four, etc… So she
is definitely on her way to counting to five.
I have been working on that with her for forever, so maybe it’s finally
sticking. :) I’ve also been counting with her in Italian
too from one to 10, but she has yet to pick those ones up.
Anyway, Dan’s family left on Monday morning. It was nice having them here and we’ll definitely miss them. We’re looking forward to our next visit with family!
(These are out of order...but I don't have the time to reverse them!)
