Five weeks old today

Ashlan is five weeks old today!  The pictures below with the Steeler bear are of her at one month exactly.  She’s the same size as the bear!  We figured we’d take her picture every month with the bear to measure how big she gets every month.  I love how cute all of her expressions are, so I couldn’t resist posting multiple pics of the same thing!

And we have some exciting news on the bedtime front! Yesterday night she slept from 11:30-6:00am without a break in between to eat! I think this is her longest sleep yet and it was so nice! I actually woke her up when Dan got up to go to the gym so she might have slept longer if we let her. She greets us with smiles every morning and (after those first few weeks of the diaper rash) also smiles when we change her diaper. She’s such a pleasant baby now! What a difference in a few weeks!

Yesterday Dan and I ventured out with her to go to Babies’R’Us to get her an activity mat/play gym (courtesy of some gifts cards from some fabulous friends of ours!) and a few other odds and ends. We also went to our favorite little Greek restaurant and she was an angel the whole time! I was so impressed that we got to go out for that long and she didn’t have a meltdown!

So, the cloth diapers are being put on hold until this month is over with.  Her legs are still too skinny for them but I have hope that she will fit into them soon!  She eats like a champ and it’s only a matter of time until she is 10 pounds (to which I wouldn’t be surprised if she is that weight now!).  So hopefully she’ll fit into them soon because daddy is tired of spending money on disposables and mommy is worried about adding to the landfills.

And I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans (see pic below!)!  I still need to lose about 20 lbs to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight but at least I can wear regular clothes now.  I lost about 25 lbs in the first two weeks (I gained 45 total!) but things are going a lot slower now.  I'm waiting until my 6 week appointment (next Friday) before I start any kind of activity since that's what my doctor told me to do, so hopefully I'll be able to drop the rest of the weight after that. 



We have a few bath time pics below (censored, of course).  She did extremely well in the bath this time and it didn’t even phase her when water was poured over her head!  We actually got a few smiles out of her, which is a relief!  We hope her attitude continues like this during bath time!
