Ashlan is one month old today! It is so rewarding to see her smile at us, which started about two weeks or so ago. She is definitely doing it more often though and it is so sweet! I’ve managed to capture only a few smiles on film, which are below.
We were sad to say goodbye to Nana and Papa on Wednesday, December 29th, since they were such a big help with cleaning and cooking meals (and helping and playing with Ashlan)! It was so nice to have them over Christmas and we’re so happy they got to meet Ashlan!
Luckily, Ashlan has been doing really well with sleeping a decent stretch at night, usually about six hours (with a feeding in between) or sometimes more! Yesterday she actually slept seven hours (with one feeding in between) and we are happy to report she slept in her crib for the first time overnight! We also gave her a bath yesterday and it was the first time she lasted the whole time without crying (and she was even smiling), so that’s progress! And she is such a little cuddler! She has been spending more time in her swing lately but when she’s not in that, she is cuddled up on one of us (see pictures below!). Her swing has been a lifesaver in some aspects because it allows Dan and I to eat dinner together without holding her now, since she loves the motion. We just started putting her in it more often because she has gained enough weight now where the swing doesn't look like it's going ridiculously fast! She doesn’t so much enjoy her bouncer (well, not as much as the swing anyways) but she’ll give that a try for a little before she’s had enough. Here's my little cuddler:
Caesar is still a little pouty! I feel so bad for him! He still wants to be on my lap when I’m holding her and wants much more attention than from before she was here. He is very patient though and seems to know she’s here for good. We’ve actually gotten in a few walks lately (me, Caesar, and Ashlan). I put her in her wrap (picture of it below) so it’s easier to take Caesar with us (because not only is he afraid of the stroller, but it’s easier to control him). So that gets us all fresh air!
She also surprised us because lately she’s been picking her head up for about 10 seconds at a time. The pictures of her on the floor are of me trying to get a picture with her head up but as soon as I’d snap the picture, she’d put it back down!
So things are going very well now in our household and mommy is having a hard time not taking too many pictures of Ashlan!
