13-14 week pics

Ashlan seems to be back to herself, thankfully!  Unfortunately though, I think she might have gone through a growth spurt because she is definitely not fitting into some of her clothes again.  Even the sleepers we have on her that are 3-6 months are too small for her now and she’s only 14 weeks old!  We couldn’t even zip some of them up starting at her ankles!  Once we got past her stomach, it was ok but it was just so tight on her legs.  I just can’t believe we’re going to be in 6 month clothes here soon!  And truthfully, though some of her 6 month clothes look a little long for her, they look way too tight in her midsection (and it’s not just because of the cloth diaper, which only adds a little bulk).  She is just growing way too fast!  Since it's such nice weather now, she has been wearing mostly onesies and t-shirts though to show off her cute little dipes!

The three of us went to our church’s fish fry on Friday night and Ashlan was very well behaved (in fact, she fell asleep pretty soon after we got there so Dan and I got to enjoy our meal together, which is a treat)!  On Saturday night we went to mass and though it was naptime, she stayed up the entire time.  We were hoping she’d nap on us but she was too interested in taking in her surroundings and smiling at the church ladies.  Luckily, she behaved herself and as soon as we got into the car, she was asleep.  So then we went grocery shopping while she was sleeping…on a Saturday night! LOL!

On Sunday we met up with some friends and their baby at Panera and she was pretty good there also, despite being up for too long.  She is getting used to us going out, which is great, so Dan and I have been going out more often with her.  I ordered a Babyhawk Mei Tai on March 5th (which is something you can wear your baby with) so hopefully we’ll get that soon so I can start using it.  I’ll be able to put her on my back with it, as well as the front, so I’ll be able to do a lot more around the house with her on me…from things like vacuuming, laundry, prepping food, cooking, etc.  I always feel guilty leaving her in her swing because a lot of times she just ends up looking so bored, so this way she’ll be able to see over my shoulders at what I’m doing and maybe it’ll keep her a little more engaged with me.  Her swing does entertain her at times but sometimes she just wants to be with me.

She hasn’t rolled over yet (from back to front) but she is getting very close!  She ends up completely on her side but just can’t seem to roll over her arm.  I’m sure it’ll happen soon since she loves her activity mat…I just hope I see it!  She also still loves to stand on us.  She will sit on us too but she prefers to stand.  I would say her head control is now excellent and we hardly ever have to support her anymore.

So for now we have given up on her sleeping on her back.  We’ll still try it periodically to see if she’s changed at all but we just couldn’t get any sleep and Ashlan seemed miserable for the few hours when we did try it (and so did mommy!!).  At least she is in the crib at night even though she’s still in her carrier but she sleeps so great in that.  And for naps, she still sleeps in one of our arms usually but my rational is that she’s only this little for so long.  One of my friends whose baby is exactly Ashlan’s age made a great point when she said as desperate as our little ones are now to be in our arms, it won’t be long before they’re desperate to get out of them.  So I’m soaking up all the time I have with her while she’s still this little because time just goes way too fast!  She’s such a snuggler too, always has been.  And I don’t mind whatsoever.  It might be different if I wasn’t a stay at home mom but I’m happy to be one so I can give her all of my attention.  This way I can kiss her a lot more when she’s in my arms!  We’ll pick our battles with her right now…she’s still sleeping wonderfully through the night and she’s happy, so for right now, that’s our main concern.  At her 4 month checkup we’re going to talk to her Pediatrician about sleep training, her (not) sleeping on her back, and her heartburn and do what she suggests then.  I’m not a supporter of the CIO (Cry It Out) method so at this stage I couldn’t do that anyway so for now we’ll just enjoy our sleep and her being happy!

She doesn't enjoy the swing as much as she used to but she does love the swing's tray, which gives her plenty to stare at!
She loves getting her diaper changed!  Always smiling on the changing table!
This pic is kind of dark but she's staring at Caesar.
On our way to the fish fry.
Here's her trying to roll over...so close!
