The Chronicles of Ashlan

Well, we’re thinking the daycare at the gym got Ashlan sick.  And Dan is sick too, but not with the same thing, thankfully (he has the flu, ugh!).  She has a pretty bad cough, which started on Thursday, and she still has it today.  Her 15 month appt is tomorrow, so we’ll talk to the Ped about it then and hope that she can get her shots (sometimes if they deem a child is too sick, they’ll make them come back).  Ashlan has done so well with her other shots, hopefully this will be the same.  We’ll see what happens.  Either way, we’re looking forward to finding out her weight and height.  We know she is a little on the big side (ok, that is an understatement…she’s huge!).  She's only 15 months (in a few days) and is wearing 24 month sleepers, and 24 month onesies.  She’s also wearing some 3T shirts and pants, but mostly 2T.  However, I’m not going to lie, the 2T aren’t very big on her (and some are tight!).  It looks like it’ll fit her this one month and then she’ll be onto a bigger size!  It seems she’s always growing!  I tried on some jackets on her for when we go to London and the 2T one fit perfectly.  The 3T was huge on the arms, but fit her stomach well, lol!  What can I say?  Girl likes to eat.

Some news is that she has another tooth!  Her fifth one.  This time it’s on the top (all other four are on the bottom)…and we’re pretty sure she’s getting the other one soon as the gum looks white.  We still can't believe she is such a trooper when it comes to teeth.  Once again, we noticed it by accident, not because we were looking at her gums for teeth.  She is one tough cookie!  Hope this continues!

She has also found her belly button.  It’s so cute!  She’ll be standing around and all of a sudden will lift up her shirt and play with her belly button.  Even when she’s just standing and we ask where her belly is, she’ll lift up her shirt, so we know she knows that it’s a part of her body.  She's still identifying our body parts to us...like when we ask "where is mommy's nose", she points to it.

One thing I’m not sure I mentioned or not awhile ago, is that she stands in front of the fridge and whines when she wants milk or food.  She has been doing this ever since she could walk, so probably around 10 months or so, but I don’t know if I mentioned it until now.  She’ll disappear and all of a sudden we’ll hear her making noises and grabbing at the fridge door.  Usually milk solves it, but sometimes she surprises us and wants more food!  She has to be at least 26 lbs now.  We haven’t weighed her in awhile but I guess we’ll find out tomorrow for sure.  Either way, she is super heavy to carry now!!

Not too many pics this time.  Would you believe we went to the Scottish Highland Festival and Games over the weekend and I didn’t take one picture!  Wow!

Hanging out with Papa on one of the last days before they left for home.  We miss them already!  :(

Ashlan being silly.

Ashlan being a drama queen.  I'm telling ya...if the girl doesn't want to do it, nobody can do it!  She is one free spirit!  She wants what she wants and she wants it now!!

First time eating grilled cheese sandwich.

As I expected, she housed it.

Happy girl, eating her homemade whole wheat "macaroni and cheese", with rotini.

Finding her belly button when we asked where it was.  :)

The Adventures of Ashlan

We all went down to St. Augustine on Thursday to visit my parents and Mommy and Daddy got a nice date lunch in!  We went to Nonna’s Trattoria and it was awesome!  Ashlan did perfect so we’re really going to miss Nana and Papa when they leave for home soon!!

A few days ago, Dan and I went to go sign up at a fitness center that has daycare so I can take classes or just workout and Ashlan can get some play time in with other kids.  Originally, I was terrified because I didn’t know how she would react.  She did excellent though!  We walked in after we were done with our tour and she was so happy and running around.  She loves being with kids, so I’m glad she can get a little social time in with them.  I’ve gone about four times so far and the only problem we have is trying to get her out of there!  Sometimes she just doesn’t want to leave!  At least she’s having fun though.

Down at Nana's and Papa's.  She found a little chair that she liked.

Her new stroller that we got because she didn't like the other one (not the jogging one, we still have that one).  We mainly got this for London because it's much lighter and folds down much more compact than the jogging stroller and we wanted to have something easy to travel with.  While I was putting it together, she wanted in it, and then threw a fit when I took her out (and this was after I let her sit in it for about 20 min.)!

Watching the parachutist on the beach.  He had an engine on it and was going up and down the shoreline.

She was so busy playing at Nana's and Papa's that she didn't want to stop and eat.  We had to feed her while she was running around!

She won't let us feed her anymore!  So, we got a bowl with a suction cup and while she's teaching herself how to use the spoon, we are using another spoon to make her eating faster because it would either take all day or she would go hungry, lol!  She's getting it little by little though.  She still uses the fork and has since she was 9 months old, but she also uses her hands too...depends on her mood.

Some Saturday fun with Mommy, a box, and permanent markers.  :)

Playing with Papa in her box.

Notice who has a real phone and who has a fake phone, haha!

It was a HOT day today, 81 degrees!  :)

Now they're both talking on the phone!  :)

She has been doing this lately...walking around with her hands behind her back.  Not sure why though.

And these are new diapers...a bigger size because Ashlan is a "healthy" girl.  :)  I didn't realize how tight the old ones were becoming on her until we got these new ones!

The Ashlan Adventures

I guess I’ve been slacking so I’m going to break this up into two blog entries since I have so many pictures to post.

Ashlan and I dropped Grammy and Aunt Katie off at the airport on Monday and said goodbye to them just before security.  Ashlan started waving bye to them once they turned to walk away, of course.  But we all had a wonderful time with them and are looking forward to our next visit.

Ashlan has been talking up a storm lately!  She says “ruff ruff” when looking at dogs, both in person and in books.  She repeats words after we say them, like she said “fly” after we say butterfly, and “raffe” after giraffe (but she has been doing that one for awhile).  She repeats many other words after we say them too.  Some words she regularly says are “go”, “hi”, “uh oh”, “oh no”, “yes”, “ok”, “no”, “bath”, “bye”, and I’m sure a few more that I failed to mention.  She also is saying “hey you” (Daddy’s fault for that one, lol!).

Ashlan has been doing something new when she is tired.  She’ll go to her room and lay herself on her recliner when she wants to go to bed, for naps and bedtime.  It has happened like five times already.  She’ll just disappear down her hallway and we’ll call to her and she doesn’t really answer.  Then when we go to see where she went, she is laying on her recliner.  Too funny!

Coming off the slide.  She loves it!

Trying the steps herself.

Doing a pretty good job by herself.  She was very determined!

Aunt Katie was doing a good job keeping watch.

It was pretty windy...check out her hair.

Look at her hair!

Getting good at it.

Wants to crawl back up the slide.

She could do this for hours...and throws a fit when we leave!

She was sucking on this frozen washcloth for like 20 minutes!  No teeth though, and she wasn't that cranky either so not sure why she wanted it.

She wasn't feeling the best here.  We think she caught a little cold because she was burning up and very lazy that day.  The fact that she could have Caesar on her is unbelievable and so is her sitting still!

The Adventures of Ashlan

Ok, I'm not going to do a real blog entry here...just pics because I have so many already from Grammy and Aunt Katie visiting so here we go....

The day that Grammy and Aunt Katie got here we had a playdate with Ashlan's BFF, Audrey.  Here they are showing each other some love.  <3

Here is Ashlan being a boss, lol!  What a bully!
And Ashlan is about 2 1/2 months younger than Audrey, though she has about 2 lbs on her!

Playing nicely.

Ashlan's "laptop" from Leapfrog.  She is taking to it nicely!

Caesar is wanting in, but he was questioning going past two toddlers!

Grammy showing Ashlan things on her laptop.

Aunt Katie is using her Mac expertise to help Ashlan with her 'studies'.  :)

Just hanging out with Aunt Katie and Grammy.

At the zoo with Daddy, Aunt Katie, and Grammy.

Ms. Independent with Daddy and Katie.

Trying to feed the giraffe, or "raffe" to Ashlan.

Ashlan getting some QT with Aunt Katie.

I know this is not a family picture of us, but it was so cute that I had to include it!

Poor Aunt Katie!  Trying to get a picture with Ashlan's "My Auntie loves me" onesie,
but she was having none of it, lol!

A little better here, but she just wanted to run around.

She was supposed to be taking a nap around this time, but she wanted to run around instead.  Not surprised!  She never wants to miss anything.

Looking at the lions.

Kissing Aunt Katie.

We all had a really good time at the zoo!
