Ashlan got to have her first pool experience on Mother’s Day! We put just her feet in the water on the first step of the pool and she just jumped and splashed around with a big smile on her face! The pool was around 80 degrees but the weather was about 85 degrees and sunny so it was a perfect day for the pool. Though I love the swimsuit she had on, I probably won’t put it on her again because it was so hard to get off! It’s a bummer that she’s too big for it because it’s so cute! The cabana we ordered for her came the other day and is perfect so we can’t wait to use it. It was a little tricky getting it back down so small but we did it (we exercised lots of patience doing it though, haha). We also received her two swim diapers I ordered. One is pink, one is purple and they’re both adorable. We went to Babies’r’us on Saturday to get a bathing suit t-shirt for her to wear with them, though they didn’t have exactly what I wanted…but it was close enough.
She also turned 5 months on the 3rd…where is the time going? I barely remember her as a newborn now, it all happened so fast. I do love this age though. Well, truthfully, it just keeps getting better and better! My favorite is when she puts her head down after I pick her up and snuggles against my shoulder and neck. She does put her arms around my neck every once and awhile but I don’t think she’s figured out yet to actually do it on purpose…but I love it. She really is so sweet. And such a happy girl!
So the hair pulling has begun…on purpose this time. I have to always wear my hair back now. And she’s also pulling and grabbing at our faces constantly. She pulls and then giggles when you say, “Ow!” Just her squealing and giggling is funny to hear and watch her in action. Also, for a few weeks now, when you show her a mirror up close, she immediately touches her image in the mirror and smiles so I’m thinking she can recognize herself. She’s just growing too fast.
Eating solids is going great still. She just tried apples and pears and likes them a lot. She eats bananas but you can tell she’d rather have something else. Oddly enough, it seems that she prefers veggies to fruit but she really does eat anything so far.
Sleeping is still going well for the most part. Some nights she wakes once or twice, sometimes not at all. It’s still way better than every hour or so!! She is such a wiggle worm though! One minute I look at the monitor and she’s on her back, and the next time I look she did a 180 and is on her tummy. She is all over the crib too, she’ll be at one end and a few minutes later will be at the other end. She’s like a fish out of water, she flips and flops around so much when she’s sleeping! She still wakes up around 6am everyday but that is perfect because it’s too hot for me to run if I don’t leave then. She loves to just look around and usually gets a little nap in. We also take Caesar on walks when she’s in the jogging stroller now. He used to be scared of it and I would just wear her when we’d go but we tried the stroller a few more times when Dan was home (in case we needed to walk separately) and Caesar was fine with it. It’s getting too hot for me to wear her sometimes anyway so I’m glad Caesar doesn’t seem bothered by the stroller now.
Well, we were cloth diapering 24/7 until the stupid older cloth diapers gave her a rash. And it wasn’t even overnight…it was just between the two hours when I changed her last. It has to be the tide I used…the newer diapers are perfect. So, looks like we will have to get more diapers and just use the older ones on wash day, or if there’s an “emergency”. I can’t risk her getting rashes every other day because it just takes so long for them to clear up on her. It stinks but definitely a lesson learned. Looks like she has sensitive skin like her daddy.
