The three of us went out to dinner on Thursday night and Ashlan was an angel. We actually went to a pretty nice restaurant and it was nice to go out and not have to worry about how she was going to act. As long as we work everything around her naps, she is one happy girl. The whole time we were there she was just playing with her toys and looking around. When she’d catch our eye she’d give us this big smile and then go back to whatever she was doing. We even had someone come up to us while we were leaving and tell us she was so well behaved! We really did get lucky with her personality. She’s always smiling and always so happy. It’s been so long since she’s cried so we’re getting more confident that we’re figuring her out. In fact, the last time she cried was on vacation, which was probably just because she was out of her element. We’re just totally enjoying all her smiles and giggles and her sweet little personality!
Sleeping has continued to be great. She lasts about 9 hours give or take and usually gets us up around 6am, like clockwork! It is perfect because Dan and I both can go work out then and he can still make it to work on time, or if it’s his day off then we have the whole day to spend together. And I have great news…we finally found an insert combination that works for her to use her cloth diapers overnight! The diaper last night lasted 9 ½ hours and probably could have lasted longer because the two inserts weren’t as soaked as they could be. I also stripped the 22 original diapers again and they’re usually reliable for absorbency but they will still sometimes give her a slight rash when the other ones don’t at all (must have been from the tide I used). We’re still testing all of them (I use the newer 12 much more frequently) but I do believe they’re much better than they were before.
We booked Ashlan’s first vacation to the beach the other day! We’re going to go to the Longboat Key Hilton (using our points) for a few days in June. We have some friends with a baby around Ashlan’s age that are hopefully going to join us so it should be a great time! We try to go there once a year because it’s so peaceful and beautiful and the clear gulf water just can’t be beat! We’re excited to see how Ashlan does in the sand. I ordered a cabana sun shade for her (see it here) that is relatively big and it’s supposed to get here in about a week so we should have it in plenty of time for the trip. I’m also looking into a cloth swim diaper so she can use them multiple times throughout this summer and next. We bought her a sun hat a few weeks ago but it’s way too big on her, though it says “One size fits infants and toddlers”. I’m thinking she got my small head, at least I hope she did! We need to get her a suit though because she already grew out of the 3-6 month one she was given as a gift!
Solids continue to go well. So far she’s tried squash, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and she’s currently on bananas. I’m so happy she has liked everything so far, I hope she stays this open to trying new foods!
And on an unrelated baby note, Dan and I have finally decided to make our own wine after receiving his family’s recipe nearly two years ago. We got the supplies and ingredients yesterday and plan on finishing it tonight. Wish us luck!
Just chillin' on the boppy.
Working on her crawling...
Caesar's keeping an eye on her...
Just hanging out...
Her new favorite thing is pulling on people's faces
if you get too close to her hands.
This was after church, but before Dan had to go to work. He did this with her Thursday as well and she threw up on him about 5 min before he had to go. I thought it was hilarious...Dan, not so much! LOL!
It's a little blurry but it was too cute not to share!
This is how big her sun hat is on her!
Trying bananas...not so sure with the first bite.
One of her favorite dolls is elephant.
She loves this one too!
