First steps!!!

Here’s some BIG news: Ashlan took two steps on September 27th! I was on the floor and I was holding a toy out for her and she took one away from the couch and then another slow one with the other foot, but she did it! She was 9 months, 4 weeks, and 2 days old when she did that (but who’s counting? LOL), so not quite 10 months. Her 10 month birthday is tomorrow, on Oct 3rd. I thought it was kind of a fluke but then she took four steps yesterday, and a few today too! It’s probably going to be awhile before she’s walking full speed but at least she gets the idea. She still falls after those few steps but at least she falls with her hands out to catch herself, or she falls into our arms. She’s doing it more and more though so it’s definitely happening faster than I thought it would. I can’t believe she’s going to be 10 months tomorrow! Where has the time gone?

She is also starting to stab food with the fork, but of course, it is making a mess on her tray, lol! She definitely has the idea though. The only reason we’ve resorted to doing this is because she throws a FIT if we try to feed her from the fork. So we figured we’d let her try and she has actually stabbed something and then put it in her mouth with the fork, but when she’s really hungry, she still just uses her hands. She also sometimes stabs it and puts the fork up, but then uses her other hand to grab it from the fork and then puts it in her mouth that way! At least she has the idea though. She is also nursing a lot more lately. She has cut out a ton of solid foods in favor of nursing. She’ll have a few puffs here or a few goldfish there, a half banana, or a few bites of chicken, but it’s mainly nursing now. I hate to think she is regressing with the solid food but I think it may be because she wants to feed herself now and throws a fit when I don’t let her. She doesn’t exactly know how to use a spoon yet so how can I let her feed herself? It’s weird because a few weeks ago she cut back nursing so much that it was around 2-3 times a day and now it’s more like 6! I don’t know what’s going on. She must be getting all she needs though, so I guess I can’t complain. Little Miss Independent!

Starting to use her fork!!

Here she is watching Super Why (a show about reading on the Sprout network).  She doesn't watch TV at all except for this show, and when it comes on, she can't tear herself away!

She is so in love with Caesar!  Caesar, on the other hand, is less than thrilled...

Caesar says, "Mom, let me outta here!"

Don't let them fool you, they both love each other...her more than him though.

This is how we find her in the mornings.  She stands up and smiles as soon as we enter her room...

Then she sits down and grabs her dollys, and then stands back up with them jumping and smiling, as if to show us them.  She doesn't like to leave her crib without them but luckily, we do have duplicates around the house.

A few weeks ago, all of a sudden, she has gotten so attached to this dolly.
It's so cute to see her hug it all the time!

Going swimming!

Loves to splash around!

Having a ball!

Hanging with mommy!

Taking a break from splashing around.

She is really starting to look like a little girl here instead of a baby!  :(

Ashlan and Daddy caught a cold this day.

Ashlan was happy just relaxing on Daddy with her dollies...and she NEVER sits still, so we know she didn't feel well.

Poor girl!  It didn't last long though, that night she was back to herself.  :)
